Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test IMU-CET, which was scheduled to be conducted in the month of June 2021 has been cancelled due to coronavirus covid-19 pandemic situation in the country.
Competent authority of Maritime industry in India, Director General of Shipping has issued a Circular number 14 of 2021.
As per the circular
“Due to covid-19 pandemic wave in the country the online common entrance test and common counselling shall not be applicable for admission for the academic year 2021-22. The maritime training institutes may follow their own admission process and counselling method for the academic year 2021-22, while ensuring that other requirements of training circular are strictly followed.”

What does it mean to Candidates?
As per the Director General of Shipping circular Indian Maritime University common entrance test IMU CET for the year 2021 stands cancelled. Now the the bigger question comes how the admission in different Merchant Navy related courses like diploma in nautical science, BTech in Marine Engineering and BSc in nautical science courses will be taken.
As per the circular:
- Private institutes affiliated to Indian Maritime University like Anglo Eastern Maritime Academy, Samundra Institute of maritime studies, International Maritime institute Noida etc. can take the admission directly by conducting their own entrance exam. Candidates who are taking admission in these private institutes affiliated to Indian bi time University need not to appear for Indian Maritime University common entrance test IMU CET for the session 2021-2022.
- There is no clear guideline for the Candidates who want to take admission in Indian Maritime University campuses like IMU Kolkata, IMU Mumbai, IMU Chennai etc. Probability is that a merit list will be prepared based on 10+2 marks and then the admission will be done. Hoever there is NO FINAL DECISION has been taken on this.
